Looking for a postal book subscription for yourself, or as a gift for a friend? Why not try our Books from Scotland subscription?
Each month you'll receive a carefully-selected book which is either set in Scotland, written by a Scottish author, or by an author living and working in Scotland - meaning that your purchase will simultaneously be supporting our independent bookshop, and Scottish authors too!
You can select a three or six month subscription option, which includes the price of UK postage.
FAQs:
- Can I gift a subscription to a friend?
Absolutely! Please enter their name and delivery address at the checkout, un-tick 'Use shipping address as billing address', and add your own details under the billing address.
- Can I add a note?
Of course! To do this, please add the subscription to your basket, click on 'cart', followed by 'Add a note to your order', then write the note you'd like us to enclose with the first book that we send.
- When will books be sent?
Books will be posted 1-3 working days after you first place your order. Once your subscription has been shipped, we will email your tracking link to you (which might be filtered into your spam folder...)
Subsequent books will be posted 4 weeks later (for example, if your first book is posted on Monday, 8th July, your second book will be posted on Monday 5th August). If you would like to change your next posting date at any point, please do email us to arrange this.
- What happens if I already have the book?
No problem at all! Please return the book to us in its original packaging, and we will send two books to you the following month.
- Can I return or exchange a subscription I've been gifted?
We're sorry, but gift subscriptions cannot be exchanged for other items, as we pre-order stock to cover our gift subscriptions.
- What kind of books will the subscription include?
You can see examples of the kind of books we include in the subscription here. We carefully select books in a variety of genres, including fiction and narrative non-fiction. Many will be from independent presses or smaller publishers. The books in your subscription will be either:
- written by a Scottish author
- set in Scotland
- written by an author who lives and works in Scotland
- Can I collect the first book from the shop so I can hand it to the recipient in person?
Absolutely! If you will be seeing the recipient at Christmas and would like to hand deliver the first book to them please just let me know by adding a note to the order. We'll allocate the price of shipping to a more expensive book in their subscription instead!
